APPLETON – The Appleton North Lightning volleyball team demonstrated strong teamwork and sharp serves, defeating the Spartans in a decisive match with scores of 25-16, 25-10, and 25-18 during their Fox Valley Association clash. Coach Steve Scheuerell praised his team’s performance, highlighting the effective serving that contributed to their success. The standout players included Chloe North, who recorded five digs and five aces, and Lydia Koshuta, who contributed 10 assists alongside four aces. Teegan Charapata also made an impact with 10 kills and three aces.
HORTONVILLE – The Kaukauna Ghosts started strong against the Polar Bears, winning their match with scores of 25-13, 25-19, and 25-21. Madison Tripp led the way with 24 assists and five aces, supported by teammates Brenna Matthies who had eight digs and three aces, while Claire Gerrits recorded nine kills.
OSHKOSH – In what turned into a thrilling five-set match, the Wildcats edged past the Papermakers with scores of 16-25, 25-23, 22-25, 30-28, and 15-12. Kimberly coach Carrie Raminger expressed pride in her team’s determination throughout the match. Ava Van Camp led the Wildcats with 30 digs, while Emma Tesch provided 32 assists along with four aces.
APPLETON – The Xavier Hawks continued their strong start to the Bay Conference season, sweeping the Thunder with scores of 25-12, 25-11, and 25-8. Sydney Neilitz excelled with 22 assists, and Grace Hackl stood out defensively with 14 digs and four aces.
In other sports news, the Polar Bears celebrated a soccer win over the Patriots, highlighted by two goals from Roman Glad. Grant Decker recorded a shutout in goal, not facing any shots on target.
The Papermakers also enjoyed a commanding soccer victory, with Brodie Hemmersbach scoring twice against the Spartans.
ATHLETICS – In cross country, Appleton North’s girls team delivered a strong performance at a recent meet, finishing with several top finishers including Sophia Scherwinski, who secured first place with a time of 19:37.3. In the boys’ event, Ian Willemsen from Sheboygan North took the lead with a time of 17:21.2.
