Mountlake Terrace Dominates Lynnwood in High School Soccer
In Mountlake Terrace, the Mountlake Terrace Eagles took a commanding win on Wednesday night, defeating the Lynnwood Royals with a score of 9-0 in a high school soccer matchup. This comprehensive victory marked a strong performance for the Eagles as they continue to build on their season.
Leading the charge for Mountlake Terrace was Claire August, who had a standout game with an impressive 5 goals and 3 assists. Her dynamic play was a key factor in the team’s success. Other contributors included Abby Schmicker, Ally Villalobos-VanSlooten, Sadie Parker, and Eva Gomez, each scoring one goal.
The Eagles’ defense was equally formidable, with goalkeeper duo Jordyn Stokes and Daphne Ostberg keeping a clean sheet, ensuring Lynnwood could not find the back of the net. With this victory, Mountlake Terrace improved its overall record to 4-8-1 and its league record to 4-6-1. Meanwhile, Lynnwood remains winless with a record of 0-14.
Mountlake Terrace’s next game will be against Archbishop Murphy on Thursday, October 24, at 7:30 p.m. Lynnwood will also play on the same day, facing Shorewood at 7 p.m. at Shoreline Stadium.
Swim Meet Results
In swimming news, the Mountlake Terrace Eagles also faced off against Lynnwood in a meet that saw them emerge victorious with a team score of 103-65.
Individual highlights included Katherine Lombard, who excelled in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:10.76, and also won the 50 yard freestyle in 27.83 seconds. Lisa Beam had a strong performance as well, winning the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:06.86 and the 500 yard freestyle in 5:38.46.
The Eagles will compete next at the Edmonds School District Championship Meet on Saturday, October 26, at 2:45 p.m. at Lynnwood Pool, while Lynnwood will look to bounce back against Mariner the same day at 2:45 p.m.
Volleyball Showdown
In volleyball, Edmonds-Woodway secured a 3-1 victory over Marysville Getchell, showcasing powerful play from Neeva Travis and Ava Bartin. Travis contributed with 22 assists, while Bartin provided 8 kills and 8 aces. Edmonds-Woodway’s record now stands at 12-1.
