High School Sports Roundup from Albany

Last week was full of exciting action for high school athletes in Albany. The standout performers showcased their skills, leading their teams to impressive victories across various sports.

This week’s football highlights featured Archie Jones from CBA, who had an incredible game as the junior quarterback. He threw for 191 yards and an impressive six touchdowns during the first half, propelling his team to a dominating 75-0 win over Schenectady. In another nail-biter, John Gload of Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake rushed for 169 yards and scored two touchdowns, helping his team edge out Queensbury with a 22-21 victory.

In addition to football, soccer players made headlines too. Kofi Sarfoh from Shaker was remarkable, scoring three goals to lead his team to a 4-1 win against Shenendehowa. Meanwhile, Jessica Cofresi of Cambridge netted four goals in a commanding 10-0 victory over North Warren. The girls’ soccer scene also saw standout performances from Kiley Melanson and Addison Perry, each helping their teams to substantial wins.

In cross country, Thomas Isenovski from Saratoga Springs shined at the Saratoga Invitational. He finished first with a time of 15 minutes 15 seconds. On the girls’ side, Allison Boler from Niskayuna won with a time of 19 minutes 7 seconds.

The excitement continues this week with more key games lined up. Fans can’t wait to see if these athletes can keep up their fantastic performances as the season progresses.
