In Pittsburgh, the excitement for high school sports continues to grow as teams prepare for a busy Monday full of action on the ice and the soccer fields. Here’s a look at what’s happening on October 7, 2024, with games scheduled for hockey, soccer, and volleyball.

Hockey Matchups

In Class 3A, Thomas Jefferson will take on Franklin Regional at Palmer Imaging Arena at 8:30 p.m. Central Catholic faces South Fayette later that night at Mt. Lebanon Ice Center, with a start time of 9:10 p.m.

For Class 2A, Bishop McCort will be squaring off against Norwin at 6:30 p.m. at the Palmer Imaging Arena, while Fox Chapel will take on Baldwin at Ice Castle at 7 p.m.

Fans of Class A hockey can catch Mars versus Avonworth at Baierl Ice Complex at 7 p.m. and Montour battling Chartiers Valley at Mt. Lebanon Ice Center at 7:10 p.m.

Soccer Games Ahead

On the soccer fields, the boys’ teams will hit the ground running with Hopewell visiting Riverside in Class 2A Section 2 at 3:30 p.m. Later that night, Springdale travels to Trinity Christian for a 7 p.m. showdown in Class A Section 4.

For the girls’ soccer tournaments, Armstrong will face Latrobe in Class 4A Section 1 at 7:30 p.m., while Hempfield goes up against Woodland Hills at 7 p.m. in the same class. Norwin will compete against Penn-Trafford starting at 7:30 p.m.

Volleyball Matches

In the volleyball scene, the action will kick off with Thomas Jefferson taking on Albert Gallatin at 7:30 p.m. in Class 3A Section 3. West Mifflin will also face off against Gateway later in the evening. Meanwhile, in Class 2A, Hopewell will visit Quaker Valley at 6 p.m.

These events promise thrilling competition and showcase the talent of local high school athletes. With so much happening throughout the city, it’s sure to be an exciting evening filled with sportsmanship and team spirit. Make sure to catch your favorite teams in action!
