Waterloo High School Volleyball Teams Shine in Section V Class B Tournament Action

Volleyball Action Heats Up in Waterloo

Waterloo, NY – The high school volleyball playoffs were buzzing on Thursday evening, with exciting matches taking place in the Section V tournaments. The cloudy weather with a chance of rain didn’t dampen spirits or eagerness as teams took to the court to compete for a shot at the championship.

In a thrilling showdown, the Waterloo High School senior team faced off against Palmyra-Macedon in the Class B quarterfinals. Waterloo, ranked No. 5, successfully defeated No. 12 Pal-Mac in four sets, with scores of 25-16, 25-15, 25-27, and 25-18. Senior standout Natalie Jones proved pivotal, making stunning hits at the net, while junior Alana Rease from Pal-Mac did her best to block those powerful shots. Waterloo’s victory allows them to advance to the semifinals where they will play Aquinas Institute at a TBD location on November 2.

Meanwhile, at Seneca Falls Middle School, Mynderse Academy also secured their place in the next round after a decisive win against Rochester Prep. Mynderse, ranked No. 6, swept the match in straight sets with scores of 25-7, 25-9, and 25-22. Cheyenne Mangum shined with 9 aces and 9 assists, while Kyle Kolbash contributed with 5 kills and multiple aces.

Other matches of note included Midlakes, who secured a 3-0 victory over Livonia, and Penn Yan Academy pulling off a 3-1 win against Haverling. Both teams will continue their playoff journey this Saturday.

As the excitement builds, local teams are looking to bring their best in the continued quest for the championship title. Fans are encouraged to come out and support their teams as the tournament progresses!
